Murder mystery party for 8 – Theme: The Smashed Hits Poll Winners Party
We love a good murder mystery party and this was absolutely no exception. The theme was the smashed hits poll winners party and Doug Beldof (the organiser of the Elastoplast concert) has been murdered and the suspects are Tom Groans, Mimi Mia, Elton Gone, May Donna, Mike Jaggedy, Katie Shrub, Teddie Mercury and Tina Turnaround.
We decided to theme the menu around bubbles so started with a welcome drink of a popstar fizz cocktail which was lychee liqueur and juice, cranberry juice and topped up with sparkling wine.
As everybody was taking their seats we put the starter into the oven and did the introduction round and the first round, we then plated the starter which was double baked cheese soufflés with pear and rocket and sparkling wine dressing. Whilst eating we all asked our questions from the first round.
After clearing the plates we put the main into the oven and then went back to the table to do the second round. Once we finished the round we plated the main which was chicken in a sparkling wine jus, potato bake and asparagus. We finished the round by asking questions while eating.
Round three took place and then we and plated dessert which was a vanilla panna cotta and strawberry sparkling wine jelly with a strawberry coulis. We ate this whilst concluding the round with the questions and giving concluding statements.
Who was the murderer? I cannot tell you, you should try it. What I can tell you is how to get ahead. The night before make the strawberry and sparkling wine jelly and leave to set. Make your sparkling wine gravy and cook your chicken until the skin is crispy and it is just cooked and assemble your potato bake and cook until just cooked. The morning of, make your vanilla panna cotta, leave to cool a little and then top your jelly with it, pouring the cream over the back of a spoon and put back in the fridge. Trim your veg.
Set up your table and set the scene early in the afternoon so that you have enough time to get yourself into costume and have a drink without running around.
