There is a lovely South African dish groenboontjie bredie that I first came across last year when Rhona's cousin Nathalie made it for us. It has stuck with me since then and being cold and horrible I thought a little stew would be just the ticket. For any non-Afrikaans speakers put simply this is a green bean stew. The stew has lamb and potatoes but by far the ingredient that features most heavily is green beans. We actually used round beans (slightly thicker than green beans) and it was so divine. I think we need to increase our liquid and change the cooking times a little so we do need to redo this but as a first attempt I was pretty pleased.
