So one of the books I bought myself this month is At Home with the Roux Brothers. I could not believe I did not have a single book by the Roux brothers (although do Michel Roux Jr) despite how influential they have been to English cuisine. They helped to shape and change how seriously we take food here. The UK food used to be a laughing stock but things have changed hugely in the last 30/40 years with many of our top chefs having worked under the Roux brothers. We are ranked 7th in the world for restaurants holding Michelin stars and Gordan Ramsay, Heston Blumenthal and Clare Smyth are in the top 10 of best chefs in the world.
