I love Sundays, Victoria Noah and I go out for coffee and a catch up which is always lovely and then once home the afternoon is spent cooking which I love.
This week I made a batch of Nutella cookies for Matt as it was world Nutella day. The trick is to freeze the Nutella then when you cook the cookies the nutella stays super gooey. You can also freeze the cookie dough and cook them from frozen.
Our Sunday cook was from Andrew Wong's cookbook, it was dong po slow-braised pork belly, egg fried rice, poached gai lan with oyster sauce and pickled daikon and carrots. I have to say I was a little bit dubious of the liquid the pork is cooked in because it did not seem much liquid and there is an awful lot of sugar. I should not have been however, this was easily one of the nicest dishes we have made, it was just so good and the rice beautiful. We cooked enough for 2 meals only to find Matt polished off all of the meat ha ha. It was super easy to cook - albeit fairly long - and super delicious. Worth every minute in the kitchen.
