I have wanted to go to Marble in Johannesburg for some time now and during this visit we finally managed to go.  I was really excited and I was so pleased we finally got there.  We went before the sunset so we could look out over Johannesburg with the sun setting, prosecco in hand.  The staff are lovely, the menu really interesting and the food delicious.  We had sparkling wine and espresso martinis followed by bread, butter and butternut squash, then our starters were marble bites which consisted of a lamb roll with chakalaka, peri-peri chicken wings and a game skewer with meebos and also the Marble avo ritz which was coal fired prawn tails with avocado, prawn mayonnaise and chives. Then our mains were the coal roasted sirloin, confit baby leeks, roasted tomatoes, creamy chipotle in adobe sauce, watercress, marble fries and also the salmon on the coals, béarnaise sauce, asparagus, potato and anchovy baked in cream. To finish there was the grapefruit and lime posset, fig, rosé jelly, crystalised pistachio, fig sorbet and fig glass and the other was a coconut financier, white chocolate ganache, raspberry mousse, strawberry gel, vanilla frozen yoghurt. All of these we had with matching wines, it was a great meal.  I am so so glad we got there.
