What a lovely, lovely day today.

We have a little Saturday routine which we all look forward to now.  Rhona goes out for fresh bread and then we all have a long lazy lunch where we eat much more than we mean to. Fresh bread is so delicious, I really must learn how to make it.

The shops were crazy today and there was no puff pastry to be found anywhere so Rhona made a fabulous rough puff which we then made into mummy sausage rolls.  The pastry was utterly delicious - much tastier than most of what you can buy in the shops.  It was so good it has made me want to learn properly how to make true puff pastry.

We then scooped out the pumpkin and Matt carved it, I used the flesh for a gorgeous spicy soup and I also roasted the seeds with some peri peri seasoning.  The pumpkin seeds are so good and really set off the soup.

Matt, 2 of his friends and their mums cooked a gorgeous easy all in one cake which we decorated in a Halloween theme. The thing about decorating with children is you need to stand there to help when required and otherwise let them just decorate themselves - ocd must be put to one side when allowing children to decorate cakes, something I am really poor at but am trying to master.

The day was then finished with a Halloween quiz which we all dressed up for.

Great fun :-)
