Today is international carrot day. When Rhona was growing up she said they had carrot salad every day. I have this thing with carrots, when they are good they are amazing, they are sweet and I love the crunch, yet when they are old they have zero flavour and are not worth it. A little bit of cumin and mint and they take on a gorgeous Middle Eastern taste.
We made the Tom Kerridge harissa lamb today which we served with a butternut and pomegranate salad, tzatziki, hummus and flat breads followed by a pistachio crème brulee. The lamb cooked for 5 hours on a bed of onions and had such a wonderful deep rich taste. I love food with deep flavours.
