I love weekends, I get to get up later than usual and always start my day reading cookbooks in the kitchen while waiting for my tea to brew. The house is always peaceful for a few hours as nobody else is up early. It is one of my favourite times of the weekend. I have so many lovely cookbooks and I love researching what we are cooking and eating over the weekend.
We had a gorgeous lunch, some lovely fresh bread with crab mayo and fresh egg mayo still warm from the eggs cooking. Matt loves crab, only equalled by our beautiful tuxedo cat Ninja who was spoilt with a little of the crab. It would just feel wrong not to give him a little something. It was such a lovely lunch and I was reminded that often the very best food is the simplest. It makes me smile when something so simple is so delicious. Good produce always wins out.
On the weekends Matt and I cook together - usually something sweet as my beautiful baby has a sweet tooth and adores chocolate. Almost everything we cook contains chocolate. I love our time together, we laugh, chat and catch up and it makes me happy. Matt loves Mars bars so today I thought we would make Mars bar muffins with a chocolate based sponge. Half way through filling the muffin cases however we ran out of Mars pieces as the chocolate fiend had ‘tested’ too many. Luckily we had Bueno to finish off.
